When Will Ayumu Make His Move?
Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru
Ayumu, a first-year student, is new to shogi but decides to join the school's club. Within the club, he has a crush on his senior, Urushi, and often teases her, making her embarrassed. He plans to confess his feelings only after winning a shogi match against her, but he keeps losing, leaving their relationship in a delicate balance. In middle school, he excelled in kendo with a defensive strategy, which translates to his shogi play, allowing Urushi to anticipate his moves. Unlike Urushi, he’s very athletic due to his kendo background.
Urushi is a second-year student with light purple hair and brown eyes. She initially claimed to be the shogi club president, but the club isn't officially recognized. She tries to get Ayumu to confess his feelings but often ends up blushing instead. Her birthday is the day after Ayumu's. Academically gifted, she says she can place highly just by listening, but she struggles with sports and feels down about the sports festival. Outside of school, she cherishes visits to her favorite okonomiyaki restaurant.
